A retired Supreme Court Justice, Dattijo Muhammad, has accused the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, of abusing his powers.
Muhammad, who retired on Friday, made the accusation at a valedictory session organised in his honour. He said that the current structure of the judiciary gives too much power to the CJN, who can make decisions without consulting other justices.
Muhammad also spoke about the lack of representation for the South East and North Central zones at the Supreme Court. He called for reforms to the judiciary to ensure equity and justice.
In a post on his social media handle, Atedo Peterside, the President and Founder of Anap Foundation, commended Justice Muhammad for speaking out and demanded judicial reforms.
