Clarification of Relationship and Denial of Disqualification Rumors
Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a prominent aspirant for the governorship position in Edo State, has recently addressed and dispelled rumors surrounding a supposed discord with the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ize-Iyamu provided insights into his relationship with Oshiomhole, emphasizing its amicable nature and the absence of any quarrel.
Categorical Denial of Rift
Contrary to speculations, Ize-Iyamu unequivocally stated that he and Adams Oshiomhole are on good terms.
He emphasized the collaborative efforts they have undertaken throughout the party formation, emphasizing that there is no basis for unnecessary quarrels between them.
Dismissal of Disqualification Claims
Amidst the political landscape gearing up for the APC’s primary on February 17 and the subsequent governorship election in Edo State on September 21, reports had emerged suggesting Ize-Iyamu’s disqualification from the primary by a screening committee allegedly linked to Oshiomhole.
Ize-Iyamu, however, refuted these claims during the interview, asserting his continued active participation in the electoral contest.
Collective Decision-Making within APC
In the interview, Ize-Iyamu shed light on the collective nature of decision-making within the APC concerning the selection of its governorship candidate.
While acknowledging Adams Oshiomhole’s significant influence within the party, Ize-Iyamu pointed out that the former governor of Edo State does not possess unilateral authority to determine the party’s candidate.
He stressed that the process involves multiple stakeholders and is not solely the prerogative of one individual, even if highly respected, within the party.
