The world has lost one of its most remarkable athletes.

Agnes Keleti, the world’s oldest Olympic champion, has passed away at the age of 103.

The news comes after Keleti had been hospitalized in Budapest due to pneumonia, with reports stating she was admitted to the hospital on Christmas Day.

Hospitalization and Final Days

Keleti’s son, Rafael Biro-Keleti, spoke to Hungarian media during her hospitalization, expressing hope and strength.

He stated, “We pray for her, she has a great vitality.”

Despite the hopes, Keleti’s condition worsened, and her press official, Tamas Roth, confirmed her passing on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

A Gymnast Who Made History

Agnes Keleti was a true icon of gymnastics, not just in Hungary but worldwide.

Over the course of her career, she won an impressive 10 Olympic medals in gymnastics.

Her Olympic journey started in Helsinki in 1952, where she claimed the floor title, before going on to dominate the Melbourne 1956 Olympics.

During these games, she captured gold in the uneven bars, balance beam, floor, and team event, solidifying her legacy as one of the most successful Olympians of all time.
