Gossip blogger Musa Khawula’s case has been postponed by the Randburg Magistrates Court to 29 January, where a formal bail application will take place.
The 33-year-old was arrested earlier this month in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, and is facing charges of crimen injuria and contempt of court.
Alleged Defamation and Controversial Statements
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Khawula allegedly made defamatory statements on his popular social media platform between 10 and 12 October 2024.
The posts were said to have been aimed at damaging the reputation of businessman Zesimdumise Nxumalo.
Among the allegations, Khawula claimed that Nxumalo had cheated on his wife, Tamaryn Green-Nxumalo, who is a former Miss South Africa, during her pregnancy.
Khawula later issued an apology for his comments.
Bail Application Delayed
During Khawula’s second appearance in court, the state was ready to proceed with the bail application.
However, Khawula’s defense team requested more time to prepare a detailed bail statement, leading to the postponement.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that Khawula would remain in custody until the formal bail hearing.
