The presence of three medications to improve heart function was discovered in Kamila Valieva’s doping test, according to the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
These medications, according to The New York Times, can be used in combination to increase endurance.
Kamila Valieva’s doping test indicated the presence of trimetazidine, L-carnitine, and hypoxen, according to USADA’s CEO Travis Tygart.
Among these three, only trimetazidine is on the list of drugs that are prohibited for athletes.
“It’s a trifecta of chemicals, two of which are legal and one of which isn’t.”
According to Travis Tygart, the effects of such a mixture “appear to be directed at enhancing endurance, lowering tiredness, and promoting improved oxygen efficiency.”
