Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received a warm embrace from Sir Keir Starmer upon arriving at Blenheim Palace today.

The historic venue near Oxford was hosting a meeting of European political leaders, including Zelensky, who used the occasion to praise Britain’s unwavering support in Ukraine’s efforts against Russia.

He emphasized the importance of European unity during these challenging times for his country.

Zelensky is scheduled to meet with around 45 European leaders, including a separate discussion with Prime Minister Starmer. He is also expected to have an audience with the King.

As he arrived, he expressed his confidence in the UK’s support, highlighting Britain’s leadership from the onset of Russian aggression.

This meeting comes at a crucial time, as Germany announced a reduction in aid to Ukraine, decreasing from €8 billion in 2024 to €4 billion in 2025.

Despite this, Germany hopes that Ukraine will manage its military needs with the $50 billion from frozen Russian assets.

The Call for Continued Support

The Ukrainian leader stressed the need for continued military support, particularly as concerns grow over potential changes in U.S. support if Donald Trump wins the upcoming presidential election.

Zelensky reiterated the importance of European unity, noting that it often leads to strong and decisive actions.

On social media, he praised the UK’s resolve, describing it as a vital element in countering Russian aggression.

Controversy Over Hungarian Prime Minister’s Actions

The summit also saw tension, particularly around Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s recent visit to Moscow. Orban, who described his visit as a ‘peace mission,’ faced criticism from Zelensky and other EU leaders.

Zelensky questioned the motives of any European leader making decisions that could undermine Ukraine’s interests, emphasizing that the EU and NATO can handle their issues without any individual acting contrary to their collective interests.

Despite the controversy, Orban assured reporters that Hungary stands with Ukraine but expressed skepticism about finding a battlefield solution.
