Passengers on a Friday morning American Airlines flight expected a smooth journey from Chicago to sunny Orlando—but instead, they found themselves landing unexpectedly in Nashville.
A Sudden Shift in the Sky
Flight 1884, a Boeing 737-800, departed from Chicago O’Hare and was originally headed straight for Florida.
But just under an hour and a half into the trip, the plane changed course and touched down in Tennessee’s capital.
Flight data shows the plane landed at Nashville International Airport just 1 hour and 29 minutes after takeoff.
While mid-route diversions aren’t unheard of, it’s still unclear exactly what led to this unexpected pit stop.
