Even with the WTA Finals in Riyadh right around the corner, Aryna Sabalenka has managed to squeeze in a little downtime — and of course, she’s spending it with her closest friend on tour, Paula Badosa.
The World No. 1 is in fierce form this season, but that doesn’t mean she’s forgotten how to unwind, especially when it involves a “Sabadosa” reunion.
The Return of “Sabadosa”
Fans know them as “Sabadosa” — the inseparable duo whose friendship has become just as beloved as their tennis careers.
Sabalenka and Badosa often refer to each other as “soulmates,” a bond that has only deepened despite meeting on opposite sides of the net more than once.
Their last face-off came in the Australian Open semi-finals earlier this year, where Sabalenka powered past Badosa in straight sets.
But true to their dynamic, there was no rivalry off-court — just laughter. Sabalenka even joked afterward that she’d make it up to her friend by taking her shopping and buying her “whatever the f*** she wants.”
And she wasn’t kidding. A few weeks later at the Qatar Open, Badosa was spotted wearing a bracelet gifted by the four-time Grand Slam champion.
Paula’s Recovery and Comeback Plans
While Sabalenka continues to dominate the circuit, Badosa’s 2025 season has been far more turbulent.
The Spaniard has struggled with recurring injuries that forced her to end her season early after a brief return at the China Open.
In September, she announced on social media that she would take the rest of the year off to recover fully before the 2026 Australian Open.
For now, she’s focusing on rebuilding her strength — and fitting in a little sunshine where she can.
A Stylish Reunion in Dubai
Recently, both stars found themselves in Dubai, using the city as a training and recovery base — and, naturally, as an excuse to catch up.
They reunited over dinner at the luxurious Atlantis The Royal Hotel, just a short walk from Sabalenka’s temporary home at the Atlantis The Palm.
Sabalenka teased the dinner on Instagram, hinting that she was “on a date with someone special ????,” while Badosa shared her excitement with a heartfelt post: “Back with my fav date ???? finally!”
The two couldn’t hide their joy about being together again, with Sabalenka writing, “It’s been a while ???? #Sabadosa,” and Badosa replying, “Back together, how it should be ❤️.”
Greek Food, Shared Memories, and Familiar Ties
Their dinner spot of choice was Milos, a chic Greek restaurant known for its fresh seafood and Mediterranean charm.
The menu featured everything from grilled octopus to lobster pasta and salt-baked fish — the perfect treat for two athletes who know a thing or two about luxury.
Both women share special ties to Greece: Sabalenka often visits the country with her Greek-Brazilian boyfriend Georgios Frangulis, while Badosa previously dated Greece’s top men’s player, Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Badosa and Tsitsipas’ relationship — which had been an on-and-off romance since 2023 — came to an end earlier this summer following her early Wimbledon exit.
The couple had even talked about marriage after rekindling their love in 2024, but by mid-2025, they quietly went their separate ways.
Sun, Laughter, and a Reset
After their dinner, the pair made the most of Dubai’s sunny weather, sharing bikini snaps as they soaked up some much-needed relaxation time.
For Badosa, the break marks a gentle reset before she returns to competition next year.
Sabalenka, meanwhile, is using her downtime wisely before heading to Riyadh — where she’ll chase the one major title still missing from her trophy cabinet: the WTA Finals crown.
Eyes on the Final Prize
It’s been a year to remember for Sabalenka. After clinching her second consecutive US Open title, the Belarusian star is closing out 2025 as the World No. 1.
Her return to the court at the Wuhan Open saw her reach the semi-finals before falling to Jessica Pegula, but she’s showing no signs of slowing down.
As the WTA Finals approach, Sabalenka is determined to finally lift the trophy that has eluded her for years.
Having been runner-up in 2022, this could be her moment to seal an unforgettable season with one final victory — and perhaps celebrate afterward with her favorite doubles partner in friendship, Paula Badosa.
