The Academic Staff of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University have been asked to protect the institution from unions that threaten its stability.

The Interim Chairman of Progressive ASUU COOU, Professor Osita Chiaghanam, made this call during a press briefing held at Igbariam campuses of the university, saying that a group known as ‘ASUU COOU Reconciliatory Congress’ recruits sympathizers whose mission is to destabilize and destroy the university’s peaceful existence.

The group, while stating that the university will not accompany any individual or group on a national strike that will benefit no one at the university, recalled the achievements of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Greg Nwokoby, which include timely promotion of staff, and completion of the ASUU Secretariat in the university.

The group also stated that the Chukuwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has no problem with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, national body, but that people within the university are using the union to propagate evil.
