High Court Judge Finds Evidence of Possible Child in ‘Alternative Reality’ Case

This case involves a highly unusual and complex situation where a judge in London’s High Court, Lady Emma Arbuthnot, had to navigate a challenging legal battle between ex-partners over the existence of their supposed three-year-old twins.

ex-husband claims that his ex-wife gave birth to twin boys after they separated, and he seeks contact with them.

However, the ex-wife denies ever being pregnant and accuses her former partner of coercive and controlling behavior. No official birth registrations exist for the twins.

Lady Arbuthnot described the case as “perplexing” and noted some evidence suggesting that at least one child may have been born, possibly in a private hospital. However, the child’s current whereabouts are unknown.

The judge also emphasized the challenges faced by the court in establishing facts without legal representation for the couple and acknowledged that a different conclusion might have been reached with more evidence.

Leading family barrister Lucy Reed commented on the complexity of such cases, highlighting the difficulty outsiders might have in believing the many twists and turns involved.
