Kaizer Chiefs coaching search takes shape? Familiar face up for the job!

A number of high-profile coaches, including Benni McCarthy and Cavin Johnson have been linked with the vacant position at Chiefs.

However, so far, Chiefs have played their cards close to their chest as fans continue to guess as to who the management will appoint as their head coach.

Johnson has, at least, raised his hand for the job, publicly saying he wouldn’t say no to Chiefs if they were to approach him.

McCarthy, on the other hand, has been very quiet since his departure from AmaZulu, and whether or not he is considering the opportunity is still unknown.

Now, interim Arthur Zwane has expressed interest in taking the Chiefs coaching job on a permanent basis, saying every coach wants to grow.

Zwane asked who else must take the job if he were to run away from the responsibility of coaching Chiefs, adding that he will take the job if he’s appointed.

“Everyone wants to grow. Everyone wants to be better, and you will never be better if you don’t make mistakes,” Zwane told the media.

“You will never be better if you are not in the thick of things. If the opportunity comes my way, I will take it.

“If I run away from it then who else must take it?” asked Zwane.

“As football coaches, we need to take responsibilities,” added Zwane.

The 48-year-old mentor has already received the backing of Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr who said if there is any coach who understands the club then it is Zwane.

Zwane has been at Chiefs since 2000 as a player – he retired in 2010 to join the club’s technical team under Vladimir Vermezovic.
