Owohunwa’s Replacement Unveiled
Idowu Owohunwa, recently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police, is set to step down as Commissioner of Police.
His successor, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, has been announced to take over the role, according to a police wireless message obtained by The PUNCH.
Official Communication on Fayoade’s Posting
The communication, dated December 11, 2023, and signed by the Nigeria Police Force Secretary acting on behalf of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, indicated the immediate effectiveness of Fayoade’s posting, marked TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/T.5/103.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, verified Fayoade’s deployment to the Lagos command.
Hundeyin highlighted that the new Commissioner of Police is anticipated to assume duties possibly as early as Wednesday.
