The sketch starred Miles Teller as both Jonathan and Drew Scott, the twin hosts of the hit home renovation show Property Brothers, poking fun at the president’s plans for a $300 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom funded entirely by private donors.
The Property Brothers Arrive at the White House
In the sketch, the Scott brothers arrive at the White House ready to tackle their “biggest project yet.”
Teller’s on-screen character announces, “This week, we’re taking on our biggest challenge yet – building the new White House ballroom.”
The parody imagines Trump and Melania returning after being “evicted for four years” and Donald being a self-proclaimed interior design aficionado.
James Austin Johnson’s Trump radiates pride throughout the tour, showing off gold urns lining every room and even brandishing a crown from his recent trip to South Korea. “Nothing says democracy like a crown, right?” he quips, drawing laughter from the studio audience.
Melania Delivers the Perfect Deadpan
Chloe Fineman’s Melania Trump adds her signature deadpan humor when Teller compliments her Halloween decorations.
“Those are for Christmas,” she responds, prompting one of the night’s biggest laughs.
The sketch leans into the absurdity of demolishing the East Wing—the historic area traditionally used by first ladies and staff offices—for a massive new ballroom.
Trump’s Over-the-Top Renovation Plans
The parody escalates hilariously as the fictional Trump details the extravagant additions he wants.
“Between $350 million and infinity,” he says when asked about the budget.
Then he drops the bomb: “We’re also going to have an MMA ring… two mentally ill guys just whaling on each other… we love bum fights!”
The sketch continues to poke fun at Trump’s plans to turn the White House into a personal playground.
“It will be ready just in time for my third term. We want this to be our forever home.

ICE and the Chaotic Finale
As the Property Brothers try to discuss who will foot the renovation bill, Trump suspiciously asks, “Aren’t you guys from Canada?” before shouting “ICE!” Armed guards rush in, sending the brothers scattering amid sirens and chaos.
“We like them. Spooky, very spooky. It’s a very spooky secret police thing,” Trump mutters, sealing the sketch’s absurdity.
Real-Life Controversy Mirrors the Satire
The SNL parody aired shortly after the real East Wing was reduced to rubble, a move that has drawn widespread criticism.
President Trump defended the project as privately financed, while White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt cited necessary structural modernization and rising costs from $200 million to $300 million.
Historic preservation groups have also voiced concerns, warning that the new ballroom could “overwhelm the Executive Mansion” and permanently disrupt the carefully balanced classical design of the White House.
