NNPC will commence oil drilling in Nasarawa State this year

In March of this year, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will begin digging its first oil well in the state of Nasarawa.

Recently, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, declared this while receiving a high-powered delegation from Nasarawa state at his Abuja office.

In his address to the delegation, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) stated that the corporation is working diligently to exploit and harness all hydrocarbons across the country for the benefit of Nigerians and that Nasarawa state will soon be added to the list of oil producing states in Nigeria.

He added that the corporation had already conducted all necessary surveys and data collection in preparation for the exercise’s launch in the Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

Mr. Timipre Sylva, minister of state for petroleum Resources, stated that Nigeria has a large quantity of oil waiting to be mined and utilized, and that the ministry is completely prepared for oil exploration in Keana.

Earlier, the governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, praised the efforts of the Federal Government and the management of the NNPC for the dedication shown in Kolmani, Bauchi state, and said that the action is a clear indicator that Nigeria is a magnificent country with untapped potential.

In addition, the governor noted that the state is interested in and prepared for oil exploration, guaranteeing him of adequate security during the operation.

The delegation led by the Governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule, consisted of several personalities of high renown, including the first elected Governor of the state and National Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Umaru Tanko Al- Makura, Former Minister of Justice, Musa Elayo, Executive Director of NPHDA, DR, Faisal Shuaib, and Traditional Rulers, Emir of Lafia,
