The Oyo State Government has assured of continuous collaboration with researchers and development partners, in the provision of evidence-based education policy reforms.

The State Commissioner for Education, Mr Rahman Abdulraheem, gave the assurance, on Wednesday, during a collaborative post-education summit held in Ibadan, the state capital.

The summit, organised by the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA), in conjunction with Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE), brought education stakeholders together to deliberate on how to resolve learning challenges in the school system, especially for developing countries.

Abdulraheem, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Aminat Atere, reiterated that developing education required adequate funding and developing education in the state could only be achieved through multi-sectoral approach and corporate partnership in funding education.

He gave the assurance that the state government would not relent in ensuring that education is accessible to all, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Accessibility to education
The Director of Research for CSEA, Dr Adedeji Adeniran, said the major objective is to thoroughly impact on the process of learning in the school system and ensure stakeholder participation, appealing that efforts made in the state should be beyond mere educational development.

Also, the CSEA Research Associate, Emeka Nweke, said the state government needs to put more efforts into ensuring accessibility to education, provision of infrastructure and security, asserting that the effort of the state government is necessary considering the results of a research conducted in some selected schools across local government areas in the state.

The summit afforded the over 50 participants the opportunity to interact and proffer suggestions on possible policy strategies that would advance the state education sector.
