Police in Nairobi are planning to step up their crackdown on boda boda riders who flout traffic laws.
“This includes transporting more than two pillion passengers and travelling in opposing directions,” says Nairobi traffic commandant Joshua Omukata.
According to traffic cops, the habit has been on the rise in the city, resulting in more accidents.
Helmets are required for both riders and pillions.
Pedestrians who do not use footbridges and matatu operators who breach the laws will also be targeted by the police.
