Prince Andrew faces fresh scrutiny in the UK after allegedly asking taxpayer-funded bodyguards to investigate his teenage accuser Virginia Giuffre

The controversy surrounding Prince Andrew has deepened once again, as Scotland Yard launches a new probe into claims that the Duke used his royal influence — and taxpayer-funded police protection — in a secret effort to discredit his teenage accuser, Virginia Giuffre.

Shocking Claims About a Royal Email

An explosive email, obtained by The Mail on Sunday, reportedly shows Andrew asking one of his Metropolitan Police bodyguards to investigate Giuffre.

The message revealed that he even shared her date of birth and confidential U.S. social security number, requesting that the officer look into her background.

In the same exchange, Andrew informed Ed Perkins, Queen Elizabeth’s then–deputy press secretary, that he had asked his personal protection officer — part of the elite SO14 Royalty Protection Group — to “dig up information” about Giuffre.

The email was sent just hours before the now-infamous photo of Andrew with a 17-year-old Giuffre was first published — the very image that later marked the beginning of his royal downfall.

“It would also seem she has a criminal record in the States,” Andrew allegedly wrote.

“I have given her DoB and social security number for investigation with the on-duty PPO.”

Police and Family React to the Revelations

While it’s not clear whether the officer ever acted on Andrew’s request, Giuffre’s family insists she had no criminal record.

They condemned the revelations, calling them “proof of the desperate lengths some people will go to discredit and defame survivors.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed they are “actively looking into the claims,” adding that the force is aware of the reports.

Broadcaster Emily Maitlis, who famously interviewed Andrew in his 2019 Newsnight appearance, welcomed the development, saying, “If there were people trying to make her life more unbearable than it already was, I want to see justice done.”

Royal Titles Stripped After Fresh Fallout

The timing couldn’t be worse for Andrew. Following last week’s damaging revelations about his close ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the Duke has now been stripped of his remaining royal honors.

He will no longer hold the title “Duke of York” and has also been forced to step down as a member of the historic Order of the Garter.

Giuffre’s family has gone a step further, appealing directly to King Charles to remove Andrew’s title of “Prince.”

They’ve also demanded a full investigation into how he managed to obtain her private information.

Legal Experts Condemn the Alleged Conduct

Andrew has yet to explain how he accessed Giuffre’s nine-digit U.S. social security number — a key personal identifier used for everything from bank accounts to passports.

Prominent barrister Charlotte Proudman called his alleged actions “utterly despicable,” suggesting there may be legal implications.

“It seems Prince Andrew tried to use his taxpayer-funded connections to dig up dirt on a survivor of sex trafficking. That’s a shocking abuse of power,” she said.

Attorney Spencer Kuvin, who represented several of Epstein’s victims, echoed the outrage: “Smearing a survivor is an age-old tactic.

It’s shameful that Andrew still refuses to take responsibility.”

Lawyer David Boies, who represented Giuffre, added, “At this point, Prince Andrew has suffered enough, but the Met Police owe Epstein’s victims a full accounting.”

The Late Virginia Giuffre’s Story

Giuffre, who tragically took her own life earlier this year, had long maintained that Epstein trafficked her to London and forced her into sexual encounters with the prince — claims Andrew has always vehemently denied.

In an upcoming memoir, Giuffre reportedly wrote that Andrew “believed having sex with me was his birthright.”

The bombshell email to Ed Perkins is just one part of a larger trove of “Epstein Files” — a collection of messages now in the hands of the U.S. Congress and obtained by The Mail on Sunday.

Explosive Details from the “Epstein Files”

The cache reportedly includes messages showing:

  • Epstein arranged a dinner date for Andrew with another woman who said she was abused by the financier.

  • Andrew admitted to Epstein that he might have met Giuffre and that a photograph “could exist,” before later claiming on the BBC that he had “no recollection” of ever meeting her.

  • Epstein claimed he financially supported Sarah Ferguson for over 15 years.

  • Fergie allegedly begged Epstein for a $100,000 loan — even while he was under house arrest.

  • Former minister Peter Mandelson warned Epstein that his friendship with the York family would “end badly.”

Giuffre’s family said the emails “vindicate Virginia once again” and show her “extraordinary courage and resilience as a truth teller.”

How the Story First Broke

Back in 2011, journalist Sharon Churcher interviewed Giuffre — then Virginia Roberts — for The Mail on Sunday.

She detailed being introduced to Andrew in London during a six-week trip in 2001 and produced the now-famous photo taken at Ghislaine Maxwell’s Belgravia home.

Although Giuffre said she was forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions, those claims couldn’t be published at the time for legal reasons. But the fallout behind the scenes was immediate.

On February 25, 2011, two days before the story went live, Andrew emailed Epstein complaining that the paper was “gratuitously trying it on.”

The next day, Perkins sent Andrew the photograph, and Andrew reportedly replied that Maxwell had called Giuffre “a liar,” urging his press team to prepare a public statement.

Despite later questioning the image’s authenticity on Newsnight, at the time, Andrew made no suggestion that it was fake.

Questions Over How He Got Her Data

In another twist, Andrew claimed in an email that Giuffre had a criminal record and that he’d already passed her private details to one of his police bodyguards.

Just hours later, he forwarded the entire exchange to Epstein, simply writing, “latest.”

Legal experts have since questioned how Andrew got hold of Giuffre’s social security number.

“Was it obtained legally? If it was passed to the Met, it could’ve unlocked her entire life,” one source told The Mail on Sunday.

Epstein’s “Advice” on Discrediting Giuffre

Further emails show Epstein actively advising Andrew on how to undermine Giuffre’s credibility.

In one message, Epstein said he was arranging for a judge to release a statement that she “lacked credibility.”

In another, he claimed she had fled the U.S. after being accused of stealing $300 — an accusation her family denies.

Giuffre herself had spoken openly about her troubled upbringing and how abuse and homelessness led her to work at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, where she met Ghislaine Maxwell.

Maxwell then introduced her to Epstein, beginning years of exploitation.

A Prince in Denial

The newly revealed emails also expose how Andrew initially dismissed the early reports about his connection to Giuffre.

In one note to Epstein, he even wrote: “Good morning from a very dull London… I haven’t read the articles. I don’t on principle.”

But within days, his tone changed. “We are somewhat at a loss as to how to deal with this,” he confessed in a later message, clearly worried about the growing allegations.

By 2019, after his disastrous Newsnight interview, Andrew was forced to step back from royal duties.

And now, with these fresh revelations, he has lost what little remained of his royal standing.

“We Are in This Together”

Adding to the scandal, recent disclosures showed that Andrew secretly told Epstein “we are in this together” — a mere 12 weeks after he had publicly claimed to have cut ties with him.

Giuffre’s brother, Sky Roberts, welcomed the Duke’s public fall from grace.

“This vindicates Virginia,” he said emotionally. “We’ve shed both happy and sad tears.”

The Final Word

Even after everything, Andrew has never expressed true regret for his friendship with Epstein, once telling the BBC that he valued the “opportunities” it had brought him.

Epstein himself, however, appeared to recognize the damage their relationship caused.

In one 2015 email to Peter Mandelson, he wrote: “I guess you were right — my friendship with Andrew would come to no good.”

Prince Andrew has declined to comment on the latest revelations.
