Eskom last imposed blackouts on the country about two weeks ago.
Eskom has struggled to keep the lights on in recent years due to poor maintenance and the underperformance of two major power plants, Kusile and Medupi.
Independent Power Producers (IPPs) may be able to help ameliorate the situation in the coming years by constructing more solar and wind power projects.
